The Wild Lotus Adventure
Dear Friends of Yoga,
Adventure by definition is an exciting experience; A bold undertaking involving uncertainty and Risk; A challenging journey;
It's Discovery; It's an excursion; It's an expedition; It's Exploration; It's a voyage; It's a crossing;
It's traversing; It's Traveling; It's something out of the ordinary; It's something dangerous;
It's something intense; It's Inspirational; It's Peak Experiences;
It's something surprising and unexpected; It's a change in your life or direction;
It's something that’s new or different that isn’t an everyday occurrence. It's tremendous exhilaration.
This month the gals at Wild Lotus would like to share with you their most recent adventures and news. And it is with the practice of Yoga that helps us to achieve wellness and mindful movement through the adventures of daily life—whether at work, play or on the yoga mat.
On a simple level, the practice of yoga gives us the tools to make whatever we do better. Whether it is outdoor adventure sports or the grind of daily life, a regular yoga practice helps to build resilience, strength, flexibility and a greater sense of peacefulness which ultimately enables us to react more quickly and calmly to change.
>> Wild Lotus is Looking for YOU
Lonna and Naomi would like to announce that the Wild Lotus Studio will be restructuring how classes are offered in the near future and will be closing its doors to the downtown location mid-December. For the past two years the studio has been a wonderful asset to the community and maintains an abundance of value in the work that has been invested in the business to date. The space has not only offered yoga classes but has been used for acupuncture, belly dancing, special workshops and so much more. We are putting it out to the community to see if there is any interest in taking over the Wild Lotus business and downtown location as an owner. The studio would thrive with new energy, fresh ideas and motivated people. Please get in touch with either Lonna or Naomi to discuss this opportunity further.
>> Shelley Tomczyk is COMING BACK NOVEMBER 18-20
Get set for another fun-filled inspiring weekend workshop as Wild Lotus hosts Shelley an Anusara-Inspired teacher in Vancouver. MMC Insight
Friends of Shames has developed a Feasibility Study and Business plan that shows how My Mountain Co-op will be sustainable, innovative and efficient over the next five years. Should My Mountain Co-op purchase Shames Mountain on April 30th, 2011, these plans will guide MMC operations. Plans provide:
Win-win partnership arrangements, like the one with Northwest Community College.
Innovative ways to expand the revenue base
Great ideas ‘YOU’ contributed at the BUZZ held in February 2010.
Opportunities to reduce costs and move towards “greener” operations
Long-term perspective on the required maintenance and upgrades of lifts and equipment
Terrain expansion opportunities and the associated costs.
Findings related to potential land development.
Ideas on how to best serve Northwest communities as a key recreation/tourism area.
Upcoming Events:
My Mountain Co-op Blasts Off at Shames Mountain – Saturday February 19th
Ready, set ... Launch Party! The new My Mountain Co-op is fuelled up to blast into orbit with a fun-filled and informative afternoon at the hill.
Join Friends of Shames at Galloway's Mountain Bar on Saturday, February 19th, 2011 for Apres-Ski Festivities.
~ Enjoy a Burger and Beer for a great deal
~ Learn all about My Mountain Co-op at a Special Presentation beginning promptly at 4:00pm
~ Ask Questions and Get Answers
~ Participate in the Torch Light Parade at Dusk
~ Celebrate with cake and hot chocolate
~ Be Inspired, Buy a Co-op Membership and Share the Excitement
Ruins and Hawkair Host Shredfest – Friday March 4th - Sunday March 6th
Shames Mountain will morph into Shredville with a slew of contests, prizes and games. Plus there’s a big dance on Saturday evening at the Thornhill Community Centre. Stay tuned.
The MCC Hubs
We are also thrilled to announce MMC’s home base will be opening March 1st at the Kwinitsa Foreman’s Residence right (corner of Hwy 16 and the overpass in Terrace). It’s an amazing space and location. Great for transportation to/from the mountain, highly visible and in the same building as summer ice cream sales.
Be on the lookout for the MMC Ambassadors on location at Shames Mountain. A booth in Galloway’s Lounge will sell memberships, provide information and resources, gather feedback and answer questions.
The Locker Room
Have your say. Complete our short bi-monthly survey. Your feedback matters.

Seed Thought
In the secret recesses of the heart
beyond the teachings of this world
calls a still, small voice
singing a song unchanged
from the foundation of the world.
Speak to me in sunsets and in starlight
Speak to me in the eyes of a child
You Who call me from a smile
My cosmic beloved
Tell me who I am
And who I always will be.
Help me to remember.
